Artist, Jim Reed, is a native Knoxvillian. He studied fine art and art history at the University of Tennessee and received his Masters Degree in Graphic Art and Design from The Harris School of Advertising Art.

Having taught advertising art at both the high school and college levels., Jim left teaching to pursue a career in advertising, The founder of Reed Advertising, Jim has won numerous advertising awards and has adjudicated advertising shows throughout the southeast.

Art has always been Jim's love and avid hobby. He works mainly in oils, acrylics and pastels. Recently, he has experimented with different mediums on the same canvas and has also returned to an interest in sculpting.

Jim's work, "Here Today", a pastel of the 'rainbow houses' on 11th Ave., won the 2008 Dogwood Arts pastel art competition. His acrylic painting, "Weigel's Barn", was chosen as one of the pieces to be hung in the Mercy North Hospital. His commissioned works reach as far as Jamaica.

Jim is a member of The Portrait Institute of America and the Fountain City Art Guild and is a past board member of Big Brothers- Big Sisters and Consumer Credit Counseling Service. He is married with two daughters and four absolutely wonderful grandchildren.
